Gudauri

Georgia’s big-mountain ski resort — wide, high, above the treeline — and in summer, a green balcony over the Caucasus.

Skiers and sledders on wide snow-covered slopes at Gudauri resort under a deep blue sky

Gudauri sits just below the Jvari Pass on the Georgian Military Highway, high enough that the slopes start where most resorts end. That altitude gives it two lives: a snow resort with wide, confidence-building pistes and famous freeride terrain in winter — and a cool, green viewpoint over the mountains in summer.

For first-time snow it’s hard to beat: gentle beginner zones, sledding, and the drama of the high Caucasus in every direction. For non-skiers, the Kazbegi valley is just over the pass.
