Skiers and sledders on wide snow-covered slopes at Gudauri resort under a deep blue sky

Highlights

  • First-snow magic for guests from warm climates — we plan the day around it
  • Gudauri’s high-altitude panoramas and the winter Military Highway
  • Options for every mood: sledding, ski/board taster, cable-car viewpoints, snow photos
  • Warm-up stops with mountain tea and khinkali
  • Gear rental arranged locally — no need to bring anything but layers

Snow is Gudauri’s whole personality. The resort sits above the treeline on the Georgian Military Highway, which means one thing in winter: light, views and white in every direction.

This day is deliberately unhurried and unskippable-moments-first. Families sled and build their first snowman; the curious take a beginner ski or board hour; everyone ends up warm, fed and slightly sunburnt in the best way.

The route

  1. Stop 1Tbilisi → the snow line

Morning pickup and the climb north — watching autumn-brown valleys turn white is half the show.

  2. Stop 2Gudauri

The main event: sledding slopes, gondola viewpoints, ski taster for the brave, snowball diplomacy for the rest. We fit the mix to your group.

  3. Stop 3Mountain lunch

A long warm lunch — soups, khinkali, mountain tea — with the slopes outside.

  4. Stop 4Golden-hour viewpoints & return

If the pass is clear, a stop at the Friendship Monument balcony in low winter light. Evening return to Tbilisi.

Practical details

Pickup
Pickup from your stay in Tbilisi; winter start times agreed the evening before.
Transport
Winter driving on a high mountain road — vehicles are properly equipped and days stay flexible around conditions. If the pass closes, we have honest plan-B options rather than a wasted day.
Accessibility
Snow terrain is inherently uneven and cold. Sledding zones and cafés are close to parking; tell us about mobility needs or small children and we’ll set the day up accordingly.

Questions about this tour

What about mountain weather?

Mountain weather changes fast and we plan around it, not against it. For high routes (Kazbegi, Gudauri, Svaneti) we watch the forecast and will suggest reordering days or swapping viewpoints to catch the clear window — that flexibility is a big reason to travel with locals.

Is Georgia good for children?

Very — Georgians famously adore kids, and our family trips are built around them: shorter drives, flexible meal times, playground and animal stops, and a plan B for tired afternoons. Tell us the ages and we’ll shape the days accordingly.

Where do you pick us up?

For day tours we usually pick you up where you stay in Tbilisi. The exact point and time are agreed in your WhatsApp chat before the trip, so there’s no guesswork on the morning.
